Back in January I made my new years resolutions and getting into shape was at the top of my list. I’ll be honest, the BBG workouts are tuff but the results are totally worth it. I’m already seeing more muscle definition after only a 1 1/2 months. I do all of the BBG workouts in the SWEAT app. The app has a calendar telling you what workouts to do each day and keeps track of your progress. The best part about BBG is that you can do it anywhere. Most of the exercises don’t require any equipment and the ones that do are things you can usually find around your house. I do all of the workouts at home, but they can be done in a gym too if you don’t have room.
Over the last couple of months I’ve gotten lots of requests to share my everyday makeup routine. I’ve shared other makeup tutorials in the past but they’ve all been a little more “done up”. Today I wanted to share my easy everyday 10 minute makeup routine. This is the look I wear almost everyday and I think most girls love the idea of an easy makeup routine that looks great with little effort.
I recently started using the new Dior Forever Undercover foundation from Nordstrom and it’s quickly become my favorite. The foundation is full coverage but superrr lightweight. The foundation is buildable to full coverage but one layer isn’t really “full coverage” in my opinion–but I’m fine with that, and I actually prefer it really. I’ve always been a fan of Dior foundation and have been using Dior Forever (the original) for months and have purchased multiple bottles from Nordstrom. Both are amazing but this one will definitely be my go-to during the spring and summer.
The Dior Forever Undercover is the perfect natural matte finish and is very long wearing. Both of which are necessary heading into the spring and summer heat & crazy Florida humidity. Fun Fact: I’ve worn “glasses” since the 6th grade. I used to sit in the back of the class room and put them on for a second to see the chalk board, then quickly take them off before anyone saw. Over time I got used to them, but after about a year I started wearing contacts and have worn them ever since. Back then I didn’t feel like myself in glasses, they felt silly, and never fit my “style” (whatever it was back then) ha! Fast forward to today where glasses are a fashion accessory and can totally elevate your style.

If I were to pick a scent that encapsulates springtime, it would have to be Gucci Bloom from Nordstrom. It has an amazing floral scent that is both refreshing and light but with an edge —it just smells like spring in a bottle. Speaking of bottles, I’m a sucker for good packaging, and Gucci nailed it with this one. I loved it so much I went ahead and bought the 3.3oz bottle, which is a much better deal. It also came with a free gift—a bottle of body lotion and a bottle of shower gel, and not those tiny ones either. They are the perfect size for traveling and smell sooo good!
I brought them on my recent trip to the Southern Caribbean and wore the lotion and perfume every day of the trip. It’s definitely my signature scent this season. One of our absolute favorite stops on our trip was Aruba. The island is so gorgeous and water is unbelievably blue! We rode around the island exploring and found this gorgeous location–we stay here for hours soaking up the sun and enjoying the view. It was truly breathtaking.

You can definitely elevate your look by choosing a subtle but elegant pop of color–I chose blush and blue tones for these looks. I picked up some pieces from Brosway in silver and some in rose gold. With these, I can pretty much accessorize any outfit, from casual like I’ve worn here to a cocktail dress or evening wear. Also, by choosing multiple styles, I can layer them like I have here for a fun custom look.
For the first outfit, I went with a denim jacket over a white lace romper. The silver with blue stones really brought the whole look together. I’ve always been drawn to aquamarine since it’s my birth stone. These heart and star bracelets were just too cute to pass up–I love them layered with this classic watch.
I went with the rose gold and blush tones for the second look. You can’t go wrong with a good bracelet stack–this one might be my favorite! I layered the bracelets with a blush and nude wrap watch, which pairs perfectly with my pink top. The subtle hue of the rose gold really plays well against the more vibrant tone of the top.
Today I wanted to share a casual his & her’s look that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. We usually keep things pretty simple for VDay. Dinner and a movie–you know, the usual but with a twist. The hubs usually takes me out the day before for a nice dinner to beat the VDay restaurant madness. The day of, he cooks steak and lobster (which is always amazing BTW).
I wanted to keep my outfit casual but still chic enough for date night. I paired this cozy lilac sweater from Express with a pair of distressed white skinny jeans. To dress it up a little, I added a knotted statement necklace (on sale for only $24!) and a pair of nude heels.
When I saw this pink plaid shirt at Express Men I had to have it for Valentine’s day date night. The material is soo soft–I knew he’d love it. Plus, he looks SO good in pink. He paired it with his dark wash skinny jeans and a pair of Chelsea boots. He’s had this pair of jeans from Express for awhile now and wears them all the time.

Breaking out my spring wardrobe a little early this year.
The weather has been nice and warm the last few days—it has me so ready for spring. I wear white year round, but I basically live in it during the spring and summer months. It makes you look super tan and goes with everything—what more could a girl want?!? Ha!
The trick to wearing all white is breaking it up with a layer. This can be a belt, like I wore here, a cardigan, denim jacket, or even just a scarf. I usually like to match my layer with my shoes. Here I wore my all-time favorite peep toe booties and matched them to my belt.
This white tunic top is also one of my all-time favorites. I have it in a few colors, but the white is definitely my most worn. Right now it’s on sale for under $30—if you don’t have one, now is the time to buy. I paired it with my James Jeans white skinnies. They are a little pricey but they fit soo good! I found a more budget friendly option that are only $64.

Today I wanted to share a few tips on how to find the perfect foundation for your skin type, and how to get a flawless finish. Over the last few months I’ve tried dozens of foundations. I’m happy to say that after much trial, and a lot of error, I’ve finally found two foundations that I loveee. The beauty experts at Nordstrom helped me figure out exactly what I wanted and what works best for me. The best part is–it’s totally free!
Right now I’m using Estee Lauder Doublewear. I got this from Nordstrom a few months ago and will definitely repurchase. It’s a full coverage foundation that lasts all day, and you don’t have to use much at all. I alternate between that and Dior Forever, which is a lighter coverage. The Dior foundation leaves my skin glowy and fresh. Both foundations are amazing for different reasons, which is why I love and use them both depending on the look I’m going for.
5 steps to finding the perfect foundation
Start with a good base:
The first step to getting flawless foundation is to start with your skin. You can’t expect amazing results from foundation if your skin is in bad shape. The beauty experts at Nordstrom helped me find exactly what I needed for my skin. If your skin is dry, has texture, is too oily, those issues will all still be there when you apply foundation, and most of the time it’s more noticeable. Make sure you’re moisturizing, exfoliating, and taking all of the steps to keep your skin happy. Find out what your skin needs, and then enhance it with foundation.
*Tip: Using a moisturizer and face oil daily can help with dry and oily skin. Putting oil on oily skin? Yes, trust me, it makes a huge difference. See my full skincare routine here.
Find out your skin type:
Now that we’ve talked skincare, what skin type do you have? Dry, normal, oily, combination? Knowing your skin type will make finding a foundation much easier. I wasn’t sure at first, but the beauty specialists at Nordstrom helped me figure out my skin type and explained what products work best for it. Each skin type has different needs and makeup will look different on each of them.
*Tip: I highly recommend using a primer before applying foundation. This will help make the foundation last longer and look more flawless. I use Yves Saint Laurent ‘Touche Éclat’ Blur Primer.
What do you want?
There are thousands of foundations, how do you choose? Let’s narrow it down. What do you want out of the foundation? Liquid (good for all skin types), cream (best for dry skin), powder (best for oily skin), stick (good for combination)–knowing your skin type will make this a little easier. Now what do you want it to look like? Satin, matte, dewy… Do you want full, light, or medium coverage? The beauty stylists at Nordstrom asked me all of these questions to help determine what’s best for my skin. Knowing what you want/need will help you narrow it down to find the perfect foundation..
*Tip: Invest in your face–you wear it everyday. Some foundations are a little pricey, but what I’ve found is that they last longer, I use less, and my skin looks 100x better. Don’t skimp when it comes to beauty.
Try before you buy:
Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve literally tried dozens of foundations. In the past I would buy the entire bottle, and would find myself unhappy almost every time. Most of the time it wasn’t the right shade, didn’t wear well, and ultimately wasn’t what I wanted. Nordstrom gives samples of almost every beauty product they sell so you can try before you buy. When I go in looking for a new foundation, I always walk out with at least 3-5 samples. I’ll wear each one for a day or two to see if the color matches (some oxidize and actually change color as you wear them) and see how it looks/lasts after hours of wear. This will leave you feeling confident knowing that you’re getting exactly what you want when you’re ready to purchase a bottle.
*Tip: Get one shade darker and lighter so you can compare which ones looks best. Always check the color in natural lighting–check again after an hour of wear to see if the color is still a match.
Apply & wear:
Now that you’ve got your samples, let’s get wearing. Keep in mind that how you apply your foundation makes a big difference it how it looks and lasts. When trying out your foundations, try using a damp beauty blender–I got mine from Nordstrom. This always gives me a flawless finish and helps keep me from applying too much–which can leave your skin cakey.
*Tip: If possible, apply foundation in natural lighting–it makes a huge difference. I have my mirror set up in front of a window.
When the hubs and I want to hang at the house and drink coffee all day, but we know eventually we’ll have to leave and start adulting, comfy casual is our jam. The first thing he reaches for in the closet is a classic v-neck tee, and we both can’t get enough of our rippy jeans. You really can’t go wrong with comfy basics!
This James Perse v-neck from Nordstrom fits him just right, slim but not too tight, just the way he likes. I think it’ll be his new favorite. These distressed Topman skinny jeans are definitely his most worn pair–he pretty much lives in them. I don’t mind one bit–they look amazinggg on him!!
Now days spend most of our mornings cozied up in the living room sipping coffee, catching up on emails, and planning our day ahead. I just picked up these adorable mugs from Nordstrom and I’m in love. Hubby is soooo sweet and always telling me I’m gorgeous, and he’s the most hansom man I know. I simply had to have them.
