The Secret To Getting Mermaid Hair

As I’m sure you guys know, I am obsessed with all things beachy and LOVE that wind blown salty “mermaid hair” look. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved going to the beach and coming home with sandy tan skin and tousled beach hair. I remember the first time I saw a mermaid–it was in Weeki Wachee, FL. I was mesmerized–I truly thought if I spent enough time at the beach I would eventually turn into one. That coconut sunscreen and salty beach air smell is something I’ll never forget–and still my all time favorite scent.  Mermaid Perfume has managed to bottle my favorite beachy smell and I feel like they’ve bottled some of my best memories. I had seen these at  Anthropologie and had been dying to try–I am so glad I got my hands on them. I’m totally hooked!!

The trick to getting mermaid hair is natural uneven curls. This usually works best on slightly dirty hair–I like it best a day or two after washing. The Mermaid Hair  shampoo and  conditioner smell like a sweet mix coconuts and orange blossoms and leave my hair feeling hydrated, shiny, and so soft. It’s sulfate free and made in LA with natural botanical extracts and essential oils. I am all about putting natural products on my hair and body and don’t mind paying a little more knowing it’s good for me. Plus the scent lasts–which I love!!!
I’m always on the hunt for products that will give me the beachy texture I’ve always loved without weighing my hair down. Honestly, most products just leave your hair feeling sticky and heavy–been there, tried that–no thanks! The new  Mermaid Hair Sea Spray is everything I’ve been looking and helps give me that effortless tousled look–plus it enhances that beachy smell I love. I used the  T3 Twirl Convertible as a curling wand, picking up different size pieces and wrapping them around the barrel. You don’t want the curls to look too perfect so I just grabbed pieces and curled them all a little different. Be sure to leave at least an inch or two of hair at the bottom uncurled. I think this makes it look more beachy and mermaid like.
After I curled my hair, I ran my fingers through it to loosen up the curls and make it look more natural. You can tease it up a little too for a more wind-blown look. To finish it off, I sprayed the  Mermaid Hair Shine Spray all over, which makes my hair look sun-kissed and smoothes out any fly-aways. I’ve also been using the body oil right after I get out of the shower and love how it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.
