His & Hers: Classic Fall Style & 5 Ways To Keep The Love Alive

There’s something about a guy in buffalo check….
(cue all the heart eyes!!)
When I saw this shirt at  Nordstrom I knew I needed it for the hubs. Thanksgiving and the holidays are right around the corner and I love a guy in red. This  Nordstrom Mens buffalo check shirt is perfect for him to wear for fall and through the holidays. I love coordinating his and hers outfits for date night and throughout the holidays. Adding a  pop of red in both of your outfits is an easy way to match without overdoing it.

With the holidays coming up, I like to take time to reflect on all the things in my life I’m grateful for. The number one thing on my list is my husband and our relationship. While our relationship may not always be perfect, it’s the effort that is put into it that makes all the difference in the world. I’d like to share with you 5 ways we keep the love alive.
#1. Do things for each other.
These don’t always have to be grand gestures, although those are nice too. Simple things like the hubs getting my car door for me, or me surprising him with his favorite meal. These seemingly small acts have a continual impact on how we see each other on a daily basis.
#2. Make time for date nights.
If you have kids, find a babysitter for the evening. If you don’t, make sure to designate an evening together as date night. A date night doesn’t have to be going out to a fancy restaurant, though it can be. The date night is about the time together. Try to put away your phone (I know as a blogger that can be the hardest thing to do), and be present with each other.
#3. Be open and honest with each other.
This can be a tough one, but is very important. If you aren’t open with each other, the things your SO may do can cause you to harbor resentment. Talk through your issues and don’t go to bed angry. It’s hard to keep the flame burning if you resent your partner, and it doesn’t make things better by ignoring issues and pretending they will go away.
#4. Don’t take life too seriously.
This is something my husband has helped me so much with. He is pretty much always doing something to make me laugh and lighten the mood, especially when I get frustrated. Of course there are times when you need to be serious. Any other time, we just try to not get too worked up about things. Whether it’s burnt dinners, constantly running late (my fault, I know) or struggling to get a shoot done, we try to make the best out of every situation and always wind up laughing about it in the end.
#5. Show your affection.
There are so many ways you can do this. We like to hold hands when we walk. My husband loves to kiss me on the forehead and it just melts me. Always say I love you. Whether it’s in a text, at the end of a phone call, or when one or both of you is upset. Those three little words mean so much.

  1. Too cute! I love these little tips and how simple they are to apply. While I may not have a SO right now (just right now) I can see how even applying these tips to friendships can be beneficial, but without the lovey dove stuff, haha.
