Travel Diary: Palm Beach Getaway

Find me under the palms!!

Last week the hubs and I took a little (3.5 hour) drive and checked-in to paradise. We stayed at  The Brazilian Court Palm Beach relaxing by the pool, shopping Worth Avenue and exploring the gorgeous city of Palm Beach. On the drive in we were drooling over the estates that line the streets of the island. I immediately started plotting the ways we could move here. My first idea was to win the lotto, but that hasn’t happened yet. So now I’m working on another idea. I’ll let you know how that goes 🙂

The Hotel:
The Brazilian Court  is the second oldest hotel on the island and is full of history. They even have a Brando and a Hepburn suite named after a couple of their more famous guests. According to Ashley, our new friend at the hotel, the Kennedy family of political fame also frequented their for vacations.
After checking in, we left our car with the valet and didn’t use it again until we were heading home. This was a testament to it being in the perfect location. It was so nice to be within walking distance to everything. The hotel is just a few blocks from the beach, Worth Avenue, and amazing local restaurants. There is an on-site French restaurant called Café Boulod, a full service Frédéric Fekkai salon and a concierge service for anything else you could need.
What To Do:
We spent most of our time relaxing by the hotel pool. This place is a tropical paradise. They have food and drink service to your lounge chair so you could never leave if you wanted. Our room had a private entrance to the pool, and the hot tub was literally feet from our back door.
If you haven’t heard of Worth Avenue, you need to check this place out! It is an amazing street with some of the best shopping to be had anywhere. Don’t think outlet mall, think Rodeo Drive. We’re talking Chanel, Saks, Neiman Marcus, LV, Gucci and the list goes on. Fortunately, I was able to show restraint, but girl can dream right…
Food:
The first morning, we asked around for a good breakfast spot and we were pointed to a cute little place a few blocks away called Surfside Diner. The food there was great and the prices reasonable. My favorite was the steel cut oatmeal topped with walnuts, brown sugar and raisins.
For dinner we ended up at this lively tapas style restaurant. We got a recommendation from a local we met while walking around town (who happened to be a movie writer for a major motion picture, whose dog happened to be overheating, while my husband happened to be carrying a bottle of water, which he spontaneously offered to the man for his dog) The man asked me, “Is he always like this?”, referring to my husband. I said,” He is the sweetest!” Sorry for the detour, but it was such a neat moment we’ll never forget. The restaurant was called Buccan, and if you’re in the area you HAVE to go here. I got duck tacos and spicy tuna roll sushi, and my husband got the burger and we both absolutely loved it!
The breakfast we had at the Surfside Diner was so good, we decided to back for lunch after we checked out on the last day. Again, it did not disappoint.
Needless to say Palm Beach has totally stolen my heart and we can’t wait to go back!
Thank you to  The Brazilian Court Palm Beach for our accommodations.
